Last updated: this is a demo document for the Simply Startup prototype.

What we collect

We collect the information you give us directly — your name, email, password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text), profile details, skills, and any startup or opportunity content you submit. We also store the messages you send through our built-in messaging system, and basic usage data such as which startups you've viewed or favourited, used to power features like analytics for startup owners.

How we use it

We use your information to operate core features: showing your profile to other users, connecting you with startups, delivering messages and notifications, and giving startup owners basic analytics about their listing. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Messaging privacy

You are never required to share your personal email address to contact someone on Simply Startup — our built-in messaging system keeps that private unless you choose to share it yourself. Message content is private between participants and is only reviewed by our moderation team when a message or conversation has been reported.

Your controls

You can control whether your profile is public, whether your email is shown on your profile, and who is allowed to message you, from your account settings. You can also delete your account at any time, which anonymises your personal profile information. Startups you've created remain on the platform (since other users may be mid-conversation about them) but are no longer attributed to your personal details.

Data storage

This is a demo/prototype build of Simply Startup. Data is stored in a local application database and is not shared with external analytics or advertising providers. In a production deployment, this section would be updated to reflect the specific infrastructure, retention periods and any third-party processors used.
