Community Guidelines
Simply Startup works because people trust that what they're looking at is genuine. These guidelines exist to protect that trust for everyone — founders and collaborators alike.
Do
- Be genuine about what stage your startup is really at — a rough idea is a completely valid stage to post at.
- Be specific about what you're offering in return for someone's time (equity, pay, revenue share, etc).
- Respond to people who reach out, even just to say a role has been filled.
- Report anything that looks like spam, a scam, or a disguised job posting.
Don't
- Don't post listings that are actually just unpaid job postings dressed up as a 'startup opportunity'.
- Don't misrepresent your progress, team, or what you're building.
- Don't use messaging to spam users with unrelated offers or solicitations.
- Don't ask for payment, banking details, or upfront fees from anyone you meet on Simply Startup.
- Don't post content that is discriminatory, harassing, or sexually explicit.
A note on compensation
Simply Startup is explicitly not a volunteering platform. If you're posting a startup, be upfront about what you can realistically offer someone for their time — even if that's simply "equity, to be discussed" or "unpaid for now, with a future paid role once we raise funding". Vague or misleading compensation claims are one of the most common reasons listings are rejected.
Enforcement
Listings that violate these guidelines may be rejected, have changes requested, be suspended, or be removed. Repeated or serious violations can result in account suspension. Use the Report button on any startup, message or profile to flag a concern — our moderation team reviews every report.
